During its 8-performance runs, SF Opera created the Monkey King Public Market, open to the public out in the War Memorial Courtyard and, in partnership with Art Builds Community, brought together performances that created a wonderful point of connection in Civic Center. And inside the Opera House itself, there were puppetry workshops, Asian games and books throughout the lobbies, and each performance was opened by a lion dance in the main lobby performed by LionDanceMe. By the time the sold-out audience entered the Opera Hall, they had already delved deeply into this beloved Chinese epic.
